It's the first time I've gotten sick down here. Good thing I live next
to the Clinic and the Pharmacy. I'm taking my first sick day from
diving which I do not like. The last few dives I have lead my own
dives both times just me and the diver. It is a new experience to be
the dive guide but I did make it back to the boat with my divers both
times. Granted one of the two dives was a drift dive so the boat came
to me but I did surface inthe predetermined area.
I've been trying to explore some of the island away from where I spend
most of my time. Coxen Hole is the capital city. It is bustling with
people children and merchants. It's where the supermarket is but how
super the market is can be debated. It gets a lot of imported goods
but a few things don't make it down. One thing I have yet to find is a
bag of jasmine rice. The long grain rice they have will have to do for
now.
Two days ago Coconut Tree Divers held a carnival on the beach to
support Sol International. All profits went to support the needy
children of Roatán. It was a great time mostly kids from the island
played our games and although it seems we support other diveshop fund
raisers they didn't give us much support. Guess that's just how it
works here.
Finally got a good cable connection. It has HBO and Showtime and the
WB. During the day it works great but at night it gets fuzzy. I think
this is because most if not all the island has spliced into the same
feed. Apprently there is one person that gets the feed and some how
shares it out but is they change the channel on there cable it changes
it for the whole island. I hope to get some more pictures up soon.
Maybe tonight. I'll also have to do some reviews on the hot spots down
here soon also.

It's about 4:00pm Roatán time and the power has gone out. This is a
regular occurance as the power cables are such a mess it's hard to
imagine it can work at all. Not only are there bundles of twisted wire
strung from pole to pile and tree to tree the power here is the most
expensive in the world. Being powered by deseil fuel makes it seem
absured anyone here can aford electricity. And I'm heated cause I was
just watching a movie on HBO. It wasn't any good and I don't even know
what it's called but none the less I want my movie back!

It's been a long two weeks of diving! I have begun to lead dives. I
just let people dive and keep an eye on them. I try to find cool
things to show them but most of the time these creatures show up. I
have found where four yellowhead jawfish have made the burrows which
is always cool when I find them again. One of these dives I'm going to
take my camera to do a little photoshoot. Island life is always fun.
With the same people that live here and then the people that swing
through for a few days to a few weeks.
I get to dive everyday and it just dosent get old. Each dive has new
challenges and every one features unreal life forms.

I live here now!

April Fools

April 1, 2009 11:54 AM
Found an apartment! It is modern with hot water one AC and cable TV.
It's been nice not having a TV but it will also be nice to veggout
too. The apartment is in the same place as the Local Clinic so I'll
stop in and meet the Doctor. Only a five minute walk to the Dive
Shopand the water.
I have started my Dive Master Training Internship. It is fun learning
how the shop works and how to take people on dives. In about 2 months
I should be a certified Dive Master not to be confused with Master
Diver which higher on the ranks. I will be able to take open water
divers out on dives which will be fun and challenging.
I want to do a skin dive today but need to find some one to go out
with. Or just chillin on my day off from training.
Miss being back in the snow and fridged temps of the Northeast!
